The piece is influenced by jazz harmonies but is quite calm, more like French impressionist music. Many bars have dotted 1/4 notes followed by an 1/8 note tied to a 1/4 note or 1/2 note. That 1/8 note should be played exactly as written (no swing feel) and without any special accent.
